Nutrition Clinic

You are invited to participate as a client in our Nutritional Therapy Training Clinic. Whether participating in a consultation to review your diet or as a client in a full nutritional therapy consultation you can be assured that your consultation will be supervised by a degree qualified nutritional therapist who also holds a coaching qualification.

We realise that education and recommendations alone are often not enough to bring about sustainable diet and lifestyle changes. Our approach to nutritional therapy is personalised and the nutritional plan recommended to you by our students under guidance from supervisors aim to help you help understand for your self the best change strategies that are likely to work for you.

Rather than apply a nutritional plan for a health problem per se we seek to understand what factors over your lifetime may have contributed to your symptoms or becoming unwell. Our approach is functional. When the major processes in the body including digestion, absorption, elimination, detoxification, immunity, energy production and communication systems function well it is much harder for us to become sick. We seek to understand how your diet and lifestyles over your lifetime might have impacted on these processes. The nutrition and lifestyle intervention recommended to you will primarily aim to support normal function.

A functional approach to nutrition is embedded within the core curriculum for nutritional therapy. This approach originates from the Institute of Functional Medicine IFM that opened in 1990 in the USA. Functional medicine aims to address the underlying causes of disease and to encourage a system of medicine that prevents the development of chronic disease and supports individuals with chronic disease in a personalised way.
